Dear Madam Secretary Clinton
Dear Madam Secretary Clinton,
We applaud your visit to Congo last year. As American women, business owners, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, runners, and others deeply concerned with Congo, we are proud of your interest and commitment to Eastern Congo.
However, if the IRC mortality study statistics have held, more than 500,000 Congolese people have died since your visit. Tens of thousands of women, children, and even infants have been raped, including the recent incident of close to 200 women and infants, within 10 miles of a UN compound. This is our shame.
The USA has taken precious little action. That needs to change today. You are the leader to make it happen.
- You promised Congo 17 million dollars. Why is it still sitting in a US Government account, buried in red tape? Unacceptable. Please do what you must to get this critically needed aid to Congolese women today.
- The culture of impunity in Congo must end. Congo needs a justice system. The Congolese army must be professionalized, so soldiers “protect and serve” rather than “steal and rape”. We urge you to coordinate with donor governments and the Congolese government to spearhead a comprehensive national security sector reform plan for Congo.
Congolese women and children need your immediate action. We look forward to celebrating your bold, immediate leadership on this critical issue.
Sincerely,
A Thousand Sisters

It seems not much has changed since the time of Leopold II…
Our sisters need help. They are being murdered, raped, and cannibalized. The world must be made aware of this horror. It is up to us to make this stop.
Dear Secretary Clinton,
Please take immediate and decisive action. We need to show the people of Congo, especially the women and children, that the world does care about them and that the deplorable actions of violence against them are unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the world’s governments.
Thank you,
Shelley Jacobsen
Please Secretary Clinton, This evil must end in the Congo. And, you’re the woman who can do it. I’ll be praying for you and the innocent victims of the Congo. The Lord God of all creation will be with you. Respectfully and in Jesus’ Name,
Marie Casano
no one deserves to go through what the people of Congo are suffering, they need our help
Secretary Clinton,
Please stand up for the people of DR Congo. Women and children continue to be brutally raped and they really need our help. We are counting on you.
Thanks from Portland, OR.
complacency regarding the rape of women and children in the congo must stop now and action taken to give these women and children the rights and protection due to every human being
It’s the right thing to do. Find a way. Don’t let this be your Rwanda.
Dear Secretary Clinton,
We can not allow these unconscionable atrocities against our sisters continue. As westerners, we look to the US to utilise their man-power to get things done. How about we use our woman power, and change these women’s, this country’s, life? As an Australian woman, mother, sister and daughter, I implore you to utilise your position and your country’s woman-power to make a difference.
Thank you,
Natalie
Dear Secretary Clinton,
Thank you for your support and hard work on behalf of countless countries and people around the world living with war, impoverty, and natural disasters.
Recently over two hundred women and children were murdered and mass raped by rebels in Congo, along with three UN workers. This is a mass atrosity, that we, as citzens of the United States and the world cannot and will not tolerate.
Atrocities that have taken place in the Denocratic Republic of Congo within the past ten years are unacceptable. We live in the twenty first century. Our government has funded 17 million dollars for the Congo. This money is needed immediately to help the Congolese people.
There are rumors that the United Nations may pull out of the area. We cannot let this happen. We need to keep peace keepers in the Congo at all costs.
I urge you to give your immediate attention to the atrosities taking place in Congo. We need your support to work with other governments, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to stop “The Deadliest War since WWll. Help us save the men, women, and children of the Congo.
Sincerely,
Katherine Yarges
Please speak up for those who can’t. Thank you.
Please be a leader and take action to help end the atrocities in Congo.
Secretary Clinton,
Congolese women and we their supporters are counting on your continued attention to this awful situation, and the unique role you can play in bringing it to an end.
Dear Madam Secretary Clinton: Please help end the atrocities against women and children in the Congo. Sincerely, KE Edmisten
Dear Secretary Clinton,

Dear Secretary Clinton,
Please help end these horrific crimes against women and children in the Congo.
Sincerely,
Monica Hochstim
Thank you for all you have done so far. Please continue to let America lead by example and take action against these atrocities. Make America known as the country that made a difference, not just as the country that tried.
It is with great sadness that I write this email pleading for help! The woman and children of the Congo deserve the respect, dignity and love that all women deserve. We need to stand together and fight for these families. As a woman and mother of 3 daughters I am appalled to hear that women in the world are being treated in such an inhumane way… while the world turns it back… please help these families to be safe from these deplorable acts of rape! Every family has the right to be safe… We are all sisters and must stand together to end these atrocities….
The time to step in and assist is now. We are watching and waiting for real change to happen.
Secretary Clinton – when you were campaigning for President, you derided now President Obama’s “just words”. Now, you speak fine words everyday. They do matter. Where are the actions to back them?
Thank you, Secretary Clinton, for your commitment to addressing the crisis in DR Congo. I, and many other activists, will be watching to see what it takes for the U.S. government to follow through on its resolve to take an active hand in defusing the conflict.
Thank you,
Jen
As Congo goes, so goes the world.
I find this news so deplorable, tragic, and infuriating. What can be done to bring change to this part of the world that has been the scene of so much atrocaties committed by person to person? Please find a solution so the women and other innocents can live without such violence and suffering. I hope we find it soon so this won’t happen ever again!
The news headlines today made my stomach turn. Please help end these horrors.
Dear Secretary Hillary Clinton,
Thankyou for working hard on our behalf and trying to bring about peace negotiations in the various parts of the world. Your hard work and your understanding of issues of the war and ways to bring about change definitely has made progress in many parts of the world .
I ask of you to put that same dedication, hard work and love for the people of Congo . The people of DRC are being gang raped , killed , mutilated .The worst atrocities anyone on earth can imagine are being inflicted on the women of Congo. I regard them as my brothers and sisters, Mrs. Clinton. More so now as I have my own Congo sister who has suffered the worst , does not have her husband and is a widow at the age of 30 with 3 children by her side. There are tons of women in a battered state, fearing every minute of their lives , not knowing what their tomorrow looks like or brings.
I am deeply saddened to hear the loss of every sister or brother in Congo. As United States Secretary of State, I urge you to work with President Joseph Kabila to bring about peace in the region, end impunity , work with the government of Rwanda to enforce punishments on the FDLR that have raped and are continuing their heinous crimes in Eastern Congo.
Also, the 17 million dollars that are committed to helping the Congo people should be made to use right now. Every minute lives are lost in Congo .It definitely asks of us to show an urgency to act on this humanitarian cause .
Would you please , Madame Secretary Clinton , let us know if there is a plan for you to visit Congo in the near future ? Also , keep us informed on what you are working on regarding ending the violence in Congo.
I will be overjoyed to hear you have taken an immediate action on this issue . My prayers and best wishes to you and the Obama administration to stand up , work hard , make sure the violence ends, impunity ends , and peace and normalcy be restored with your persevering spirit .
MAY GOD BLESS YOU !!!
Thankyou,
Richa
Please do the right thing. You know what that is – the President knows what that is. Please don’t put it off anymore!
Thank you for listening.
Dr. Lauren Costine
Never should this be allowed or tolerated. We all need to be part of the solution, our voices are loud when we stand together.
These women are someones daughter, someones mother, someones wife…and our sisters…they are not just numbers….please help our sisters. If it were your sister, daughter, or mother I know you would do everything in your power to stop this….so please do not give up, keep pushing until you get the action these women deserve.
These atrocities must be stopped.
You have a strong and influential voice, Secretary Clinton–please use it. Thank you.
I was raised with old fashioned values, where women are treated with respect. I heard about the rapes and all the other atrocities and it made me ill. I would like to see my tax dollars going towards helping these people. Let it help those who truly need it.
We are one. When another suffers, it affects me.
The time is now. These human crimes cannot go unheeded any more!
Please connect with reality and realize that we must do something to help these women and children of the Cong.
In is insane to ignore this reality. Those in a position to help need to step out of their routine and stand up for others who are desperate for the assistance and recognition.
How can you not act on this immediately?
Thank you, Secretary Clinton, for your commitment to addressing the crisis in DR Congo. I, and many other activists, will be watching to see what it takes for the U.S. government to follow through on its resolve to take an active hand in defusing the conflict.
Please, Please do something to help these women and children. I can’t stand the thought of nothing being done about it! My heart and soul ache for these women and children! Please, Madame Secretary, help the women and children of Congo!
This is a really important women’s issue that we need your support on.
Atrocities such as these need to be stopped at any cost. It is impossible to believe that fellow humans are capable of this torture. This is somewhere I think we need to step in and help.
When I heard about this I thought, “what if that was me?”. I would want someone to fight for me, but will the US turn up the heat? This was an obvious slap in the face to the UN, WHO, and all those who fight to give everyone on this planet certain humane rights. They need to know that the WORLD will not tolerate this. Where the United States leads, others have shown to follow. Lets not be the last ones to enter into the defense of humanity, like we were in WWII.
Secretary Clinton,
I know that you have the initiative and strength to carry this through. We’re counting on you.
“Show me the women of a family, a community, a nation and I will show you the character of that family, community, or nation.” Let’s please be the voice of the women of Congo, so that someday they will have theirs.
Dear Madam Secretary Clinton,
You are a masterful communicator. Please use your skills to galvanize the world to help the women and children of Congo who are dying at a rate of 1200-1500/day due to ravages of conflict. I have been there too. You know that the situation is brutal and unconscionable. Human life sacrificed for human and child labor forced to mine conflict minerals. Chaos of war covering the crimes must be stopped. Thank you Madam Secretary Clinton
There is a reason that the world respects and admires you; stand up for that reason. I believe in you Madame Secretary Clinton.
Dear Secretary Clinton,
Please help end the atrocities against women and children in the Congo.
Sincerely,
David Fields
Madame Secretary Clinton,
please save my people. The time is now. Show me the change I can believe in.
Thanks.

Terror, rapists, our sisters, daughters sons raped by EVIL
THERE IS NO LANGUAGE FOR THIS TORTURE
Terror, rapists, our sisters, daughters sons raped by EVIL
Atrocities on this scale are a shameful statement of what we as fellow humans tolerate. Act now so that future generations can look back and be proud of what we did to protect each other.
The time is now. The need is urgent. The only
one is you. Will you?
